Pack rats and packing cats...

Ok, so I have only moved a couple of times in my life... but after helping James and Tammy load their moving van yesterday, I think this is an accurate statement!!  :)

I do have to say I am so incrediblly thankful that I'll have friends to help, support and encourage me on both ends of this move.  A lot of people who move across country don't get that luxury.

I'm glad we had such a large garage sale and got rid of so much stuff.   But we still have so much!  Where does it all come from and where has it all been hiding????  It's amazing how much stuff a family can accumulate and not even realize it.    It's the curse of the pack-rat.

As far as our houses go, the Olathe house needs to sell!!!  We're having an open house on Sunday and a realtor only open house on Tuesday.  Hopefully those will generate a lot of interest.   And the Payette house... the current owners are busy making some repairs that we asked for.  Other than that, I have no news.  I'm guessing that no news is good news.  We're still trying to figure out if we're ok with closing and not moving in until a week later.

Hey, does anyone have any tips or suggestions on moving our pets?  We have a dog (that's easy) and two cats.  It's the cats I'm concerned about.  How do you let a cat out to potty at a rest stop?  Have you ever seen a cat on a leash?  They become instant dust mops... completely limp.  I think a leash is the equivalent of kryptonite to a cat!   And just where do we stay along the way that allows pets?  Arg.  This is the stuff I don't want to have to think about.
