Found a home
We found a home! Ain't it cute!! I just love the front porch.
This home was built in 1906 and has been completely updated. It is a two-story with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a sitting room with a gas fireplace. Nice and cozy! The kids' bedrooms will be slightly larger than what they have now and both have two windows. There is also a detached garage with a storage loft a carport off one side and a concrete slab off the other. Plenty of room for our vehicles and for Doug's workshop. The lot is small (yeah for less mowing), but the opposite side of the alley (yup, we've got an alley folks) is an empty lot owned by the school district. Diagonal across the street behind us is the elementary school ball fields and playground.
The house is just a few blocks away from the snake river in an older section of town. The current owners say the neighboorhood is mostly retired folks right now, but the younger families are moving in as they move out. We actually saw it while we were in the area the first of June. We all loved it when we saw it but we wanted to see if anything else popped up, so we kept it on the back burner. We just didn't find anything else we liked this much that was in this price range, so off the back burner it came! We made the call and found out there had been an offer made but no contract yet. We made a quick decision and got our offer in and won the deal. I suppose when you offer less money than the other offer and you win the deal, God has got to be in it somehow!! So now we sit and wait. The inspection is tomorrow morning and we're hoping for a clean bill of health from that. Once that is done we'll move forward. Our closing date looks like it will be August 31st, though we aren't sure yet if we'll be headed up there a few days before then or not.
Our story not only has a new chapter, I think this is a whole new book. And the blank pages are just waiting for us to fill them in with the next volume of our lives. We're on an adventure! Or, to quote Doug's favorite movie line, "We're on a mission from God."
I'm putting some pictures of the house on a slideshow on here, so I hope that works!
Pray with us that the inspection will be good and the process will move smoothly.
